Introducing the new Good Office blog

If you’re like most of our readers, you’re a successful, high-achiever. You worked so hard to get into the best schools and carve out a career path you love.  And most days, you love your job.

Until one day, you are sitting in a client meeting or are in the middle of finalizing a big deal, and it hits you.  Does what I’m doing really matter?  Am I really contributing anything meaningful to the world?  Maybe you feel like this reader:

“I love my job.  I have the opportunity to work on amazing projects all over the globe, and I honestly love coming to work most days.  But I also want to make sure I’m making a positive impact on the world.  Otherwise, does what I’m doing really matter?  How can I spearhead change from within my organization?”

Does This Sound Like You?

Be honest:

  • Do you fear you aren’t creating as large of an impact as you would like?
  • Do you worry that you are unknowingly supporting unethical businesses?

  • Do you want to start an impact initiative at work, but have no idea where to start?

If so, you’re not alone. I think most people in our generation have felt this way.

I Know How You Feel

I know what it feels like to love your job and be doing amazing work, but have that nagging feeling that you could and should be doing more.

For years, I also struggled with that.  As a former international business consultant in DC, I worked with the world’s largest companies on projects in emerging markets all over the world, and I loved my job.  I really did.  But the longer I was in that world, the more I realized I wanted to do more.  Business is an amazing force, and if it’s used as a force for good, it truly can change the lives of communities all over the world.

Our Goal in Writing This Blog

Through our blog, our mission is to give you the tools to use business as a force for good from within your organization.  You don’t have to leave the job you love to create an impact - you can have both.  From practical tools to use business as a force for good, to strategies to implement an impact initiative, to interviews with other world changing professionals, my goal is to empower you to use business to change the world. In doing so, you will create the meaning and purpose you've been searching for within your company, your career, and around the world.
